Possibly due to barbaric or Germanic influence, the battle technique and shape of the sword evolved towards the end of the 2nd century A.C. The leaves became longer and the swords were carried on the left side. The Straubing-Nydam Roman Spathas are narrow and long.
Our replica follows the originals found in southern Germany dating back to the 3rd century.
The blade is made of steel. The handle is made of bone and brass. The wooden sheath is covered in leather and riveted with authentic brass ornaments.
